Calvin Klein Lipstick Collection

Calvin Klein Lipstick

Calvin Klein is a brand I see all the time on adverts or posters and however much I like the underwear, never could I pay that much for pretty generic pants! However the lipsticks are always on clearance somewhere, all I can guess is that CK makeup didn't launch very well or something, but I don't care as they are amazing quality! Fitting with the brands sleek yet simple design, the lipsticks come in black square tubes that with the shiny finish are easy to keep clean unlike those of NARS where it gathers every slight piece of dirt! AMAZINGLY, they are also cruelty free so whoop whoop!

Calvin Klein Lipstick and shades

I currently have 3 shades in my little collection and would love more but trying to hold back my spending at the moment as I have lots of bills due in October! Ethereal was my first CK lipstick, and is a gorgeous pink nude that applies so softly and easily. It is a cream shade that has a blue tone to but is what I'd call a pure pink, like a blush!

When I was staying in Sherwood, I went to the East Midlands Designer Outlet in Mansfield and found the beauty outlet straight away! I can't remember the name of the store but it had a lot of brands you'd expect like W7 and Rimmel yet it also had a few things that were still being sold like the matte lipsticks from Kate Moss! I loved it and highly recommend a visit! Cosmopolitan is a orangey red that is perfect for a daytime red for those who don't want a in your face blue toned red (all though I find it so hard to resist!) and completes any look perfectly! I love it with a cat eye!

Finally, Desire is a purple, one of my few purple lipsticks. It also has a blue undertone, yet it is still a purple! It has slight sparkle whilst in the tube but that doesn't seem to do anything on the lips, possibly just helps with the cream texture!

Calvin Klein lipsticks are available on Fragrance Direct here for £1.99! Do you own any CK lipsticks? Toodle pip till next time! xxx

Morning Summer Skincare Routine

Firstly, got some super exciting news today, I got a Distinction* in my Subsidiary Diploma for my Level 3 Beauty Therapy BTEC and I actually screamed with happiness this morning!! I'm so happy!

Anyway onto the post in hand, I recently posted my Everyday Evening Skincare Routine and I mentioned doing the morning version soon! Well it's sooner than I thought as I really wanted to share it before I started to change my routine again!

When I wake up, the first thing I do is go to the bathroom, I can't stand the left over moisturiser and any oils on my face in the morning so I head in and wash my face with my current favourite wash at the moment Balance Active Formula Skin Brightening Cream Wash*, it helps waken me up with the citrus scent and brighten my early morning face!

Morning Summer Skincare Routine

Back in to my bedroom and I give a good spritz of the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, it's refreshing and helps to balance the skin! I know this part of my routine is the same as my evening skincare, but when things work :P!

I don't really suffer with puffy eyes or red eyes in the mornings, however I have super obvious veins all over my body and have done since I was born (I looked like an alien haha) so I try my best to cool down the area around my eyes to do my best to calm down the blue lines under my eyes! The Pure cucumber roll on is really refreshing and helps to cool down my under eyes and for £1, budget friendly!! Following on with the Nivea Q10 Anti Ageing Eye Cream to help prevent those wrinkles, I went into more details on my evening skincare post if you'd like to read more!

Balance Active Formula do make up my morning, I absolutely love their products at the moment and can't live without them! Vitamin C Power Serum* is a awakening, and skin smoothing serum that is lovely to add another step in my routine to help smooth out the little bumps and to brighten up the yellow skin that I have (not jaundice yellow, but lighter!)

The final step, Simple Light Moisturiser, my alternative to the Origins GinZing Gel Moisturiser (I can't afford it anymore :( ), as a hydrating yet light weight gel moisturiser. It is simple, effective and makes a nice base for my makeup!

What's your current routine or favourites from your routine?

1 Year On...

Back in September I wrote this post about how I started my Level 3 BTEC in Beauty Therapy Sciences (one of the necessary courses you can complete in the UK to become a beautician) and how I was enjoying it so much and was super excited to be going back to college!

1 school year later and I've completed my Subsidiary Diploma meaning I can carry onto the full diploma in September. I was so anxious about going back to college as I was 18 and the intake is usually 16 but I was so glad to see by the 3rd week in there were 3 other girls all in my year group and no one even cared we were older than some of the others!

I'm now qualified to complete Swedish massage, mechanical massage, individual eyelash extensions, gel nails, spray tanning, spa treatments (including body wraps), Indian head massage, facials, body and facial electrotherapy, lobe and cartilage piercings and Hi Brow Treatments (waxing, shaping, threading, tinting and filling). I learnt this and lots of business and biology and got all my assignments handed in whilst getting a year's work experience in a lovely local salon to me!

The girls in my class are great, yes I will admit there were times when we had a few little fallouts but with a class full of 16-19 year old girls, what could you expect? Haha! But.. I love them all to bits and can't wait to go back next year and carry on learning with them!
BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Science Girls!

I'm so pleased with how far I've come this year and can't wait to go back on September 14th for my second year induction! Have you done anything great this last academic year, let me know in the comments!

Book Review | The Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant

This book review has been a long time waiting, I must have finished this book about 4 weeks ago but I just never got round to reviewing it, but hey it's up now! The Messenger of Fear is the first book I have solely read on my Kobo, I've been known to half read it on paper and then half on my Kobo if I go away or to Jeff's whilst reading.

I gave this book to Jeff at Christmas and he said it was really good so I had to read it, and I beat him in finishing it ;), even though I already had another book on the go that I should have finished first (still pulling through it), and I'm so glad I did! Sorry I pinched this picture from my Instagram, I'm still on holiday till tomorrow!

The Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant

The Messenger of Fear is bit of a spooky story with some grimacing parts, if you're very squeamish I wouldn't recommend but it's alright for me and I've not got a stomach of stone when it comes to gore! Who is the Messenger of Fear, why is the main character there, who is the main character? The end is definitely the best part and each chapter kept up the suspense that's for sure! If you're looking for a book to get your teeth in that isn't a love story, this is it.

I think it might be a teenage book but I wouldn't give it to my own children (if I had them!) till they were about 15/16. Would you play the game or would you pay for your misdeed? Available to buy on Amazon for £3.85.

Review | Balance Active Formula Vitamin C Power Serum*

You may remember a few weeks ago I reviewed the Brightening Cream Face Wash* from Balance Active Formula and I have another product for you today! Balance Active Formula are an affordable skincare brand that don't worry about fancying packaging but more focused on bringing the products inside! I love the packaging of all the Balance Active Formula products, I think it is because it's not all girly but still bright and vibrant!

Over the last few weeks I've been trialing the Vitamin C Power Serum* that is designed to brighten the the complexion, smooth the skin and even out skin tone. I find most of the time I look knackered, probably because I am, and I like anything that will brighten my skin and help to smooth out those little bumps that I tend to find on my jaw line.

Balance Active Formula Vitamin C Power Serum

The serum has a lovely orangey citrusy scent and has a slight orange tone to the serum liquid. I say liquid because it is quite runny so be careful, I know that two finger tips is enough for my whole face and I've barely touched the surface by using it everyday since I received. It helps to waken my up in the morning and does brighten and illuminate the skin!

The Illumiscin that Balance Active Formula have created (more written in my previous post) seems to be magical stuff in the morning and I really do like it! I'm not saying I love their products because I've been sent them to review, but I love them because my skin has been much better since I've started using their products and really has balanced out!

Another perk of Balance Active Formula is the easy and convenient way of buying their products, available on Amazon and eBay as well as Beauty and The Bunch . You'll be amazed at the price, £2.99!

Have you tried anything from Balance Active Formula, if so what do you think?

Everyday Evening Skincare Routine

Saturday nights are pamper nights for me, I'm not a party or going out kinda girl, much more of a stay in and watch Netflix and fall asleep at 9pm haha! Evening skincare tends to be a chore when you've had a busy day and all you want to do is crawl into bed but it is really a must to ensure that those pores don't get full of grime and/or makeup or to help balance the skin after the day!

I take my eye makeup off with whatever micellar water or liquid eye makeup remover I have the moment, I'm running super low on my Pure Eye Makeup Remover and padding it out with my facial training products at the moment with a gel eye makeup remover that is okay but not great! I can't wait for Jeff to come over with some really cheap Garnier Micellar Water that I got him to grab for something ridiculous like 2 for €6. Next I follow with Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, always always always used it, always will! I love how it's gentle on the skin, re-hydrates the skin and removes all the makeup I've had on that day.

Liz Earle Organic Surge Pure The Body Shop Nivea

My go to toner is Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, I like the spritz bottle and can give a quick couple of sprays over my face to help refresh and close my pores. It has a slight floral scent but nothing too over powering and definitely no horrible harsh scents. I always thought toners were only for oily skins but definitely not!

Pure Eye Roll On is a lovely refreshing roll on that helps to awake and refresh the eyes to reduce puffiness. I don't really have puffiness in the evening but I do get super tired eyes which aren't great and I want the best chance to stop having sallow eyes in the morning! Apparently anti-ageing products can never be used to early in life, however that's not the reason for why I use the Nivea Q10 Anti Ageing Eye Cream. I picked up in a bid to save money (it was half price to £4.99 or something) and to help out with the dark blue veins/tired eyes I get, they aren't dark circles as such, more like an almost healed bruise haha!

A new addition to my skin care routine is The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum. I decided I'd give a try when I had some cashback on my Halifax card if I spent money at The Body Shop so I picked this up. For £14, I find it definitely helped to soothe any irritation, re-hydrate and actually calm any blemishes down but following a full routine every night! I was scared of putting oil on my face but I'm really glad of it now!

The final step would is my moisturiser! I use any slightly heavier moisturiser during the night to help my skin out, I seem to breakout if I don't keep the levels up, you would think it would be the other way round but my body hasn't followed the 'rules' since day 1 (sorry mum!) . At the moment it is the Organic Surge Super Intensive Daily Moisturiser but I'm not super fussed on moisturisr, I know I love Origins mositurisers but they are so expensive!

Review | Treacle Moon Marshmallow Hearts Bath & Shower Gel*

I'm a sucker for gorgeous smelling shower products, I don't know when it first came around but I've been hoarding gorgeous scented since about year 9! I recently posted about the Imperial Leather Shower Gels and there was a marshmallow scented one there and I thought it smelt gorgeous! However then I tried the Treacle Moon Marshmallow Hearts Bath & Shower Gel* and it smells even better!

It is sweet yet soft, exactly like marshmallows, and is so relaxing at the end of a busy day! I've tried it the bath and the shower and it works up to its name and can perform for both tasks for whatever mood you're in!

Treacle Moon Marshmallow Hearts Bath & Shower Gel

Treacle Moon Bath and Shower Gels are so affordable and super easy to find, for £2.49 you get a whopping 500ml of product and you pick them up Tesco (currently only £1.99!) and Waitrose *quickly throws in with weekly shop*.

Now Treacle Moon don't only produce lovely bath products but they after to create lovely days for everyone too. They have recently teamed up with the anti-bullying charity BulliesOut who provide support to schools, youth groups and work places to ensure that the young people understand self worth and potential for themselves. I was bullied throughout from year 3 all till I went to college and I wish there had been more places I could have gone to, I'm glad that the future generations below me will have that place to go when schools or online groups don't help because they don't understand how to deal with bullying and it's after effects!

Treacle Moon are also continuing to give back, and say thank you to their customers by launching two new social media games for you to enjoy. On Facebook, (treaclemoonOfficial) keep an eye from the garden gnome to give you a chance to #Gnomenate a friend to get some gorgeous Treacle Moon products for themselves to pamper and relax. If you're more of a Twitter person, follow @treaclemoon_UK for the opportunity to receive a #HappyMonday prize!

Favourites | June

This month I've fallen in love with some new products and some old favourites have come out. This post was meant to go up yesterday however I drove up to Sherwood Forest yesterday to escape for a bit, I've planned to blog on a regular schedule but with dodgy wifi and relaxation time, I can't promise it'll be as I planned! It took me all day to reinstall Chrome, and my laptop screen is hanging off, not good!!

Makeup Revolution Makeup Setting Spray Makeup Revolution Parental Advisory Palette Hema Long Lasting Lipstick Essence Long Lasting Concealer

I ♥ Makeup Explicit Content Palette was one of the first Makeup Revolution palettes I first fell for, There is such a range of shades and I love how there are lots of different shimmery yet soft on the eyes (as in not glittery) of all different colours, a copper or golden eye is amazing with these - I need to brave a blue eye sometime! Another Makeup Rev love is the Make Up Setting Spray, it's amazing simple as! I'm going to do a full review soon, but to let you know it's brilliant!

As you can tell, I've been loving the budget beauty this month, all these products are drugstore or drugstore prices! Essence 16 hour stay all day concealer I picked up in this recent haul, has been my go to concealer for under eye circles and blemishes. I can't recommend it enough, at the moment I think I prefer it to the coveted Collection Cosmetics concealer - although I need to try a lighter shade but I'm loving this so much I don't see the need!

Last beauty favourite would be Hema Fabulous long lasting liquid lipstick in shade 2, Jeff bought me this when I was visiting in May and I love it for a long lasting, easy application of an everyday strong pink nude. It is highly pigmented and lasted me at least 4 hours without any fade till I ate and then it did start to lift, but it would be hard to find an affordable lipstick that didn't do that!

Balance Active Skin Brightening Cream A Discovery of Witches Sims 2

Balance Active Formula Skin Brightening Cream Wash* is a new favourite in my life. After being always a Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish girl, I couldn't believe I fell for a new cleanser, at a fraction of the price! It's perfect for my early starts or lazy lay ins and it wakes you right up with the citrus scent and refreshing feeling!

A couple of random favourites would be A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, a book I was struggling at first to get into and has been in my reading list for months and months! It's a really thick book, which is what puts me off, but I really do want to finish it before I go back to college, I'm so behind on the 2015 reading challenge I blogged about at the start of the year, so that'll suck I won't finish it!

Finally, The Sims 2, this is my PC version, now available on Origin instead, but I've been playing it constantly on my iMac with the super collection available on the App Store. It's worth it for the money, and you can easily add custom content to it as well :) so much better than Sims 3 or 4 in my opinion!

What have you been loving this month? Toodle pip till next time! xxx

Empties | June

June has flown by! I remember it turning the first of June and now here we are 3rd June! I've been on a huge use up these last few months and I'm desperately trying to destash (I think a blog sale might be coming up soon!)

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Nivea Deodrant Nip+Fab Coconut Latte the Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Butter

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is my staple night cleanser at the moment (skincare routine coming soon), it rehydrates my skin while removing any makeup and bleurgh from my skin. I'm currently going through the Cleanse & Polish Beauty Trio that I bought earlier in the year when it was on offer and I think when I go back to the original scent it's going to be so strange not to have a scented cleanser! I'm not sure on Lavender or Rose scents so this one isn't my favourite of the collection but I have to say it's still better than the original as it's a barely there scent!

Deodorant is another thing I've got into the habit of starting multiple cans for no apparent reasons; I'm getting so excited about all the destashing I'm doing at the moment! Nivea Invisible Black & White deodorant is a brilliant time saver, if you're in a hurry and you don't want to worry about stains on your clothes, I've never had a problem with it transferring so that's amazing! Nivea Pearl & Beauty was alright, but nothing amazing. Didn't really make my armpits beautiful, and took quite a while to dry!

As it's hot in England, for now, I've been moisturiser my feet, knees and elbows every night with a body butter to make sure my body looks its best for the shorter clothes! This means all those half used pots can go! Nip+Fab Coconut Latte Body Butter was from a GlossyBox ages ago and I really like the smell, I'm so glad I won another pot in a giveaway a while ago so I can use it again! Cocoa Butter Mini Body Butter from The Body Shop was so old and still worked a dream - proving that if a product still looks okay it tends to be okay! I'm not really one for believing in sell by dates except on eggs and chicken!

Bare Minerals Well Cared For Brush Cleaner Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer Macleans Whitening Toothpaste and Pearl Drops Ultimate Whitening Born Lippy Lip Balm in Strawberry Chupa Chups candle in Strawberry and Cream

Bare Minerals Well Cared For Brush Cleaner was the first makeup brush cleaner that I bought years ago, I think I neglected it for a while but when I first bought I only used a powder and a foundation brush so it lasted a while! I don't think it would if I had the amount of brushes I have now so I think it would be an expensive luxury, don't think I'll repurchase anytime soon.

Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara mini was from a magazine again ages ago (see what I mean about destashing and using up!) and has finally run out. I think I prefer it to They're Real from Benefit but I don't think it is worth the price when I find my Essence mascaras work perfectly well. I'm still undecided on the Roller Lash mascara but I don't think I need to buy any new ones in a hurry!

This is the first concealer I have used up in ages! Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer was raved about for wakening up the face and undereye, however like the deodorant, it's not really that special! I'd buy it again if it was really cheap or free with purchase (unlikely with a drugstore brand) but I think I'd rather try out others!

Macleans Whitening Toothpaste and Pearl Drops Ultimate Whitening (always buy in Savers and other discount drugstores to save money!) are my favourites for whitening my teeth. I'm currently trying an actual tooth whitening but I always use whitening toothpastes to keep stains at bay and to try and lift the yellower stains from when I was younger and less bothered about my teeth! Already repurchased!

Born Lippy Lip Balm in Strawberry is another thing I've had since I think I was even in secondary school! Really nice handy lip balms and I've still got 2 to work though then plenty EOS balms but I think The Body Shop do hold the lip balm trophy in stick balms! And finally, I burnt up a Chupa Chups candle in Strawberry and Cream that I picked up in Poundland. It didn't have much of a scent but I don't blame it for £1, it did last a while though so give credit where credit is due!

Review | Dr Paw Paw Original Balm*

You've probably seen at least 15 reviews of this product, PR mass postal maybe? ;) , I saw a lot so I held back on my so I could give the readers a chance to have a breather from repetitive posts and so I could try it out for myself a bit longer.

Dr Paw Paw Original Balm* is a multipurpose balm that is designed to be used all of the body to provide nourishing, natural Paw Paw to the skin and hair. I thought of it as a Vaseline like product at first but it is much less sticker and ew than Vaseline and I wasn't actually afraid to try it on other parts of my body such as my eyebrows or cuticles to help soften or tame.

Dr Paw Paw Original Balm

I would really recommend Dr Paw Paw Balm* for the lips and the cuticles. Mine aren't so bad these days because we've been doing manicures at college constantly - even though college ended for the year yesterday - so I tried it out on my toenails (cuticles are everywhere!) and it really help to soften and nourish to make it easier for me to push them back myself before painting!

I'd like to try out the tinted versions, available in Ultimate Red and Peach Pink to see how they fair up as I really like to keep soft yet coloured lips and the only tinted balms I've found I like are the Baby Lips (that don't really last that long!). This little mini I was sent to try has lasted quite well so I'm not sure how long that full size would last but it would definitely last a long ol' time!

Available to purchase here for £6.95 (20ml tube) or 200ml tube for £29.99 here.
