Empties | August

I haven't really used all that much up this month, I think it's because I was only in the UK for half the month which meant I was using the products at my boyfriend's house rather than my own whilst I was away.
Batiste Dry Shampoo

One of my repetitive empties this month, Oral B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste (currently on offer 2 for £6). This is my permanent toothpaste and I dared to let my boyfriend use it a few times and in the first 4 days he had managed to use all the tube which I thought would last me till I was home! He uses so much and I'm pretty sure it ends up back spat out. It helps my teeth stay white which is almost impossible and I don't think I'll change it anytime soon!

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Oriental, this was the second can of this scent I owned and it is still my favourite scent. After starting Pixie Lott's scent though it may be a battle between the two. Superdrug, Boots and Tesco all do offers on Batiste regularly so I never pay full price!

Every blogger and their mum knows about this moisturiser, I even got my mum to own and use it, because it such an hydrating moisturiser whilst still be a gel so it is refreshing at the same time. It is described by Origins as an "energy-boosting moisturiser" which I totally agree with. My whole face feels happy after I apply this. It was my first ever gel moisturiser and I have already started my second pot! Buy here.

That is all my empties this month, I'm almost there on a couple of things so I can't wait till September's as I think it will be a big post!

Review | MAC A Novel Romance Collection Lipstick in Hearts Aflame

MAC A Novel Romance Collection Lipstick in Hearts Aflame
That's a long post title but there wasn't really any other way of putting it! On Thursday, MAC releases two new collection, A Novel Romance and the Simpsons. Both of these collections I have been desperately waiting for since being announced and I'm so glad I got something from one of them! I was out shopping at the time and keep checking my phone but by the time I got to the library to look at the colours closer on the computers, all of the things I liked from the Simpsons had sold out. Head over to the Novel Romance section and the lipsticks were all still available!

MAC A Novel Romance Collection Lipstick in Hearts Aflame
I googled for some swatches from the lucky ladies who receive it pre-launch and Hearts Aflame stole my heart *wink wink*. It is a deep mulberry red colour with slight blue undertones because it gives me teeth a whiter appearance. It is perfect for Autumn Winter as it with the dark berry tones of the season. It is a matte finish which by MAC means it isn't drying but it is moisturising like cremesheen. Talking of cremesheen... my mum bought her first MAC product,  Yield To Love which is such a colour for her! All of her lipsticks are variations of this shade and they suit her medium olive skin tone so well (I know the genetics went haywire when I was born!).

This colour will definitely been seen a lot in the upcoming weeks as it is definitely the best berry tone I own. Shop the lipsticks here.

Wednesday Wishlist #14 | Urban Decay

*No photos are my own, Pulp Fiction: others:*
That time is coming again when everything is being released for Autumn/Winter and my bank balance starts to cry! I'm starting to be attracted to everything from high end brands which is really not so great for a girl on a budget.

Urban Decay have just released a Pulp Fiction Limited Edition Range which has one of my all time favourite looks, grunge with a red lip. Some people are unsure of the colours, especially the nail polish - but I'm already sold. I was unsure on the eyeshadow palette at first but now I'm lusting after it after seeing a few American bloggers showing how they create an amazing smokey eye with it.

Now available at Debenhams now, with prices ranging at £15 - £20 pounds.

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction

I was browsing the John Lewis website (as you do when you want to lust high end products :P) and stumbled across Ammo 2. This I have never ever heard of, but I think it's next on my list rather than another Naked palette due to it's large price drop. Ammo 2 is only £24 compared to £37 for a Naked palette for only 2 less shadows. The packaging is what caught my eye with the skull boxing but the shades look really good for the transition between Summer and Autumn and I really wish that I hope I can swatch this in store tomorrow in Cambridge.
Urban Decay Ammo 2 Palette
The last thing on my list is 2 lipsticks. Only since leaving college in October have I fallen for lipsticks. I was allowed to wear makeup to college (I wore a lot of black eyeliner) but just reapplying lipstick during the day or after lunch didn't fit in with my crazy schedule and extreme working hours (I used to do homework till 11pm every night) this is why I quit it because it was too much for a 17 year old to handle. But anyway, I now am starting to be attracted to dark shades or "my lips but better" nudes as they really suit my skin tone. Here is one of each, Naked (left) and Shame (right) are really beautiful colours online so I hope swatching won't let them down! At £15 each they are actually slightly cheaper than MAC! Buy here!

Day Out in London

Last Sunday, me, Jeff and my parents went to London to have a lovely day being tourists. This is a very picture heavy post but after leaving Jeff at the airport and not being able to see him for another 2 months yesterday, I really just want some down time with my best friend this afternoon.

When we got to Kings Cross, we then hopped on the Tube and went over to Marble Arch for a massive lunch in the M&S Café - you have to try their toasties as they are sent from heaven! Of course Superdrug Marble Arch was a must as it stocks all the Makeup Revolution and I ♥ Makeup and I brought a few bits, which I'll review across the next couple of weeks.

Next up was Boris Bikes! Well Barclay's bikes, these were free for the whole weekend due to it being a special bike weekend, it was great fun for a girl who doesn't actually own a bike and hasn't ridden since primary school!

We did a tour of Hyde Park, Princess Diana Memorial Walk, Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and finally Trafalgar Square. We made the train home by 1 minute and stopped off at McDonald's for tea. It was a great day out, just very tiring! Here are the pics (which I know I look insane in them but I was having fun) !

Review | I ♥ Makeup Lipstick Geek Review

On my trip to Cambridge - post here - I brought 2 I ♥ Makeup Lipstick Geek Lipsitcks, and wow am I glad I did! I choose two pinks, 1 bright pink and a vibrant light pink both with a shine finish. The packaging is beautiful and looks amazing on my makeup stand. With the bullet cases but in a high shine pink, mixing them in with MAC lipsticks really makes your display you look, my friend thought she had missed a MAC limited edition to begin with till I told her all about I ♥ Makeup and Makeup Revolution.

For £2.99, you receive a lipstick that lasts a good few hours, that is nicely pigmented and in beautiful sturdy packaging. The lids click on which is great for a low budget lipstick as I have struggled with a few Makeup Revolution £1 lipsticks that fall off in your makeup bag.

Ken Will Want Me is a cool toned light pink, sorry my swatch looks slightly lilac
, although the colour is bright due to it's strong pigmentation for a budget lipstick. I would compare it in quality to the Kate Moss Rimmel lipstick as that's the nearest drugstore similarity I own.

Barbie Is Jealous is a more blue toned fuschia, that is not for the faint hearted! It is very bold, and would look great to spice up any look. I really like these lipsticks and would quite happily have the whole range!

Haul | Huge ELF Haul

While I was in Holland, ELF had a huge 50% off sale off everything and I managed to get £43 pounds worth of stuff for £21.77 which was such a bargain! I've had to resist trying everything so I can take photos, so so hard and I did swatch a couple of things so whoops. I can't review any of these yet as I have been waiting to write this post first.

Eyelid Primer - £1.95

ELF Eyelid Primer

I've been using my Along Came Betty Eye Primer for months and I've just hit pan - this has done seriously well for £1.50 for a girl with very oily eyelids. I've been looking for  low budget eye primer that I can use on a day to day whilst I'm still deciding whether I want to splash out for Stay Don't Stray or The Primer Potion for special occasions (I love testers/minis for these two). I brought this in Pearl as I think that the white and slight sheen to it will be good for metallic eyes which are my go to colour, however I opened this today and it smells horrible - hopefully that won't linger or this will be a no no!

Brightening Eye Colour Palettes - £1.95 each

I loved all the colours! I've seen these in lots of makeup collection videos and I think they are perfect for makeup hoarders - they are cheap, colourful, small and they should be 'Brightening, Crease-resisting and have a long-wearing formula'! After swatching I seriously can't wait to try these out! I brought the shades: 2002 Pretty in Pink, 2003 Silver Lining and 2007 Drama. There are 8 other shades in the range covering basically everything you can think of. I'm hoping I'll fall in love with these or whether I'll be investing in their Flawless Eyeshadow palettes (think Wet N Wild style) to see if they are more preferable. Fingers crossed these will live up to expectations!
Pretty in Pink was horribly to swatch as my skin just didn't want to take the colours, not sure this will be so great but Drama was brilliant to swatch so unsure on this one!

Custom Eye Palettes - £1.50 each

Finally a cheaper equivalent of the MAC palettes that is easily available in the UK. I would love to create my own Z Palette with Makeup Geek eyeshadow pans but they could end up with a hefty customs charge at the Post Office. But ELF have come up with 4 pan custom palettes that can be used for lip or eye pans available for £1.50 each. I picked to have 2 full palettes, one with golden neutrals and one with dark colours; unfortunately Aubergine was smashed when it arrived so I'm one short but ELF kindly refunded me for that! Next time I order for ELF I'll get another to fill up my palette. Click here to see all shades.
From left to right I brought:
ELF Custom Eye Palettes Moondust Taupe Pink Ice Ivory
Moondust, Taupe, Pink Ice and Ivory
ELF Custom Eye Palettes Moondust Taupe Pink Ice Ivory Swatches

ELF Custom Eye Palettes Navy Dusk Wisteria
Navy, Dusk and Wisteria
ELF Custom Eye Palettes Navy Dusk Wisteria Swatches

ELF Custom Compact
The palette is completely custom and with the magnets, I would expect these to sit happily in Z Palette - but I love the little quads personally as you can create handy travel palettes to take around with you. They feel quite sturdy but I don't know how long they will stay white! The mirror is quite large however it was impossible to take the photo without the flash and lights ruining the shot so I've just grayed out the mirror but it really is that big!

Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St Lucia - £3.95
ELF Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St Lucia
ELF Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St Lucia
Sorry I ran out time to swatch in daylight but this is true to colour!

This is the only cream blush and bronzer duo that ELF currently sell in the UK and it's my first ever cream face products I've ever used and I'm just about getting the grips with the bronzer but I haven't tried the blush yet, only swatched it, which I was naughty and did before photographing... It looks so pretty though, I just need to watch a few more tutorials on what to do with it!

High Definition Powder in Translucent - £6.95
ELF High Definition Powder in Translucent

I love face powders, I'm turning into a bit of a hoarder! However I had no translucent ones so after watching lots of ELF hauls on YouTube this went on my list. It really does make you look HD, it defined a lot of my face and for when my colour on my skin is perfect this is great to stop be becoming darker than I want to. It is too bulky to carry around in a makeup bag for touch up but it is does look higher end at home than usual drugstore makeup.

All Cover Stick in Ivory - £1.95
ELF All Cover Stick in Ivory
ELF All Cover Stick in Ivory

I bought this because I wanted a new concealer that was a bit stronger and I'm hoping this will be the job. I get really angry blemishes that just don't want to be covered up, I'm really considering getting a green concealer but I'm kind of scared by the whole idea! I tried this yesterday and it covers blemishes amazingly, however it is slightly too thick for under eyes in my personal opinion.

Studio Blush in Tickled Pink and Fuchsia Fusion - £3.95 each

I already own the Mellow Mauve blush and adore it so I brought these with the same hope. I've found out that the Studio range from ELF is definitely more consistent in quality than the Essential range as these are unbelievably pigmented for the price. The packaging is Nars-esque and really sturdy, I drop everything and these have survived everytime! Fuchsia Fusion is a bright barbie pink with a lot of gold glitter (no highlighter needed), I looked like Coco the Clown when I first used it and had to start again, bright is an understatement! Whereas Tickled Pink is a pale orange with a slight sliver shimmer but not anywhere near as much as the other.

Told you it was a huge haul but who can resist 50% off? Not me!

Review | Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos Palette*

I was so happy when Makeup Revolution said they wanted to work with me as I absolutely adore their products and feel like they are a brand that has hit the makeup industry by storm! I find them a strong competitor for ELF in my eyes, with professional looking packaging and amazing quality products!

Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos Palette

The Salvation Palettes are eyeshadow palettes that contain 18 eyeshadows, 12 shimmers and 6 mattes - I currently own Girls On Film that I brought in this haul - and I was excited to see if all the palettes where the same in quality no matter what the colour. And there were! The Colour Chaos palette is definitely a dupe for Urban Decay Electric Palette (I haven't got my own of this but you can definitely tell as soon as you see the colours!).
Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos Palette
They are so bright! There are a few shades that are a bit more "normal" with a few metallic darker colours (Ammunition and Deliver Me - last two colours of the middle row) as well as a matte nude (Calm Me Down - last colour of the bottom row). But for a £6 making it , the colours are amazingly pigmented, especially over a primer on the eyes. A couple of these where hard to swatch especially Calm Me Down as it is almost my skin tone.

All of these colours are amazing, I really can't wait to use the pinks, and Deliver Me and Ammunition would be really good for a darker look (my favourite for nights out!). Can't wait to see what else Makeup Revolution will mastermind next! Follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Buy your own here!

Guest Post | Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick Review

Today is my first ever guest post by the lovely Chloe! I hope you enjoy it, and remember to look her up - all links are in the post!

Hey guys,

I'm really excited to be doing this post as it's not on my own blog, so will be nice to have some new people reading a blog post I've written, I'll also leave a links below to my blog/Twitter/Instagram etc. if anyone wants to check those out, or follow me, which is always appreciated! Now onto the lipstick...

Chanel Rouge Allure 136 Mélodieuse

A lipstick I'm really enjoying recently is a Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in the shade 136 Mélodieuse. I've had this lipstick a while now, but only recently began using it more.

I originally didn't use this lipstick much because I've always mainly used very bright reds shades and really pigmented colours, this shade however is slightly more natural looking than I was used to, so it took a while to get used to this lipstick, before falling in love with it. However now I've been wearing this lipstick a while it's definitely taking over as new favourite, I find myself reaching for it most days. I find this lipstick is perfect to wear to work, I work in a bridal shop as a PA and marketing assistant and a bridal stylist, so my usual bright red lipstick is a bit over the top for work (especially as I'm quite new to the job I don't want my make up to be too overpowering or get on any of the dresses!), nude and pale pink lips don't really suit my skin tone, they actually make me look quite ill, not a good look, so this colour seems to be pretty good choice.
Sorry it was hard to get a picture which clearly shows the colour, it looks a lot more pink then it is here

I'd describe the colour as an peachy coral shade, with a slight gloss finish. This shade is perfect for summer, it's quite subtle but very pretty and fresh looking.

I guess as this isn't a post for my own blog, so a lot of the readers won't know, but I am a a big lipstick girl, it's rare a leave the house without having applied lipstick, and Chanel is on of my favourite brand of lipstick. I find the formula is really creamy and moisturising on my lipsticks, it's also fairly long lasting and the packaging is nice (who isn't a sucker for nice packaging?)

Obviously being a high end brand, this lipstick is slightly more expensive, this lipstick retails at £26, which some people may say is too much to spend on a lipstick, but I do think lipsticks are a product where the difference is clear between highstreet and high end and the majority of the time you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommended checking out this lipstick, it now living in my handbag rather than the bottom of an old make up bag, it took a while for me to realise it, but this was most definitely a good buy.

What lipsticks have you been loving this summer?

I hope you all enjoyed this post (I enjoyed writing it, especially knowing it's going to somebody else blog, much more exciting than writing for my own blog!), if you did and want to see more from me, you can find my blog here, and my Twitter and Instagram are both @chloehayfs.

Thank you for reading,
Love Chloe

Review | Clinolym Toothpaste*

When scrolling on Twitter I saw that Clinolym were looking for bloggers to have a 14 day trial of their toothpaste that is designed to allow you to enjoy life's little luxuries like red wine, curry and cigarettes without having to worry about staining as it removes the stains.

Due to a genetic flaw on my mum's side me and my brother struggling with staining on our teeth (my brother with chocolate in particular) and me with almost anything that isn't a green vegetable. I was looking forward to trying this to see if it would help me...

To be honest, I can't say that much has happened, I didn't have time for before and after photos due to being away in Holland but I didn't really notice much. Some of the more tougher stains have seemed to have lifted but this toothpaste did nothing to make the teeth whiten (in all fairness it doesn't say it will) and I personally feel like their general colour was getting yellower but the staining had evened out.

I personally think I noticed a bigger difference in my teeth when using Oral B 3D White Toothpaste than Clinolym. Toothpastes I have discovered work differently on different people so it still may do some better for you! Check out their website and twitter for more information! I still have some of the tube left which I will give to my boyfriend to finish as he is a smoker to see if it helps him!
