July Empties

And that's another month gone! I wouldn't say 2014 is going that fast but I see September fast approaching which could mean a big change in my life (you'll have to wait and see what that will be!)

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Oriental

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Oriental

I bought this ages ago when I saw Batiste on offer and finally finished it! When I have coloured hair I can't wash my hair that much as otherwise all the colour comes out (even with colour protect shampoos, damn you bright colours) however when I was blonde or permanently coloured hair I can wash my hair as much as I want really. So across the last couple of weeks this has come really in handy! Most dry shampoos are really floral or fruity but this is just the right amount of floral, fruit and musk and it doesn't seem to attract flies or wasps which I have had after washing my hair before! I haven't found a drugstore dry shampoo that beats Batiste so definitely a repurchase!

Leighton Denny Remove & Go Nail Polish Remover

Leighton Denny Remove & Go Nail Polish Remover

Similar to the Bourjois 1 second remover except I find this less greasy. I found that really greasy and icky but this just feels like normal nail polish remover but much faster than the tried and tested cotton pad and remover method. This lasted a good couple of months and now I'm waiting till either I place an order on QVC or go to M&S to buy myself another one! Not sure how I managed to get it so grubby to be honest!
Buy here!

TRESemmè Vibrant Naturals Nourish & Replenish Conditioner

TRESemmè Vibrant Naturals Nourish & Replenish Conditioner
My hair was so damaged after the blonde bleaching session so I needed to save it. I used this up dying my hair pink (more details in my Monthly Favourites) but it did wonders on my hair, if you have damaged hair I really would suggest using this rather than buying expensive treatments if you're tight for cash as you pay £4.99 for 750ml!

Amsterdam Bound!

I'm currently waiting in the terminal at Cambridge International Airport in a lovely air conditioned lounge! This post is only a short catch up post because I can't really post much whilst sat in the airport :( There is wifi though so that is rather helpful!

I'm really tempted to get a Costa but I must resist the urge as I have already put on weight the last couple of weeks and I'm going to be eating a lot of rubbish whilst I'm away - stroopwafels why are you so tasty?

For this flight I'm using my Disturbia backpack as it so lightweight and spacious, I've got the book A Discovery of Witches to read and my iPod Nano 2nd generation to keep me entertained. I'm travelling in a loose tank top, H&M denim hotpants and Vans. Simple, cool and comfortable.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend and I'll blog as much as I can whilst I'm away - next stop Amsterdam!

Wednesday Wishlist #13 | Amsterdam Edition

2 more days till my holiday begins! I'm back to The Netherlands to spend 2 weeks with my boyfriend before we fly home to enjoy 2 weeks in England  - this is the last time we get to see each other for 4 months so we're making the most of it! This isn't a shopping list as such but it's places where I really want to go in Amsterdam as well!
*All photos to their original source and owner, none are my own*

RijksMuseum
RijksMuseum

I haven't been to a Museum for ages as the ones near me are quite frankly awful, however when talking to Jeff about how I wanted to actual do some things rather than he suggested this. It is the main museum in Amsterdam, almost like a royal museum and looks amazing online. It costs €15 to enter for over 18s and according to the website 18 and under are free! Fingers crossed as I'm 18 I can get in free but my parents have offered to pay for both of us as they unfortunately couldn't get time off during the holidays to come away with us!
Find out more here!

Sharp Gear Store

Tessa Goad is my latest internet love, she seems so cool and I have watched all her videos about a thousand times in the last few weeks! She bought the coolest dream catcher earrings and when I saw them on instagram here, I couldn't wait to find out where she got, when she replied to my comment and then retweeted me I almost died of a heart attack! (not something to joke about, sorry dad) I didn't know this store exists even though it is about 5 minutes from McDonalds!
They also have an online store!

Starbucks

Rembrantplein

This sounds so silly but I don't have a Starbucks near me only Costa and sometimes you just fancy Starbucks! There is a really nice one in Amsterdam on Rembrandtplein so if it is nice enough to sit outside, do!

Haul | Makeup Revolution

A few weeks ago I placed an order with Makeup Revolution and completely forgot to blog about it! It arrived a couple of days before I went away for the weekend so I got sidetracked and then only last week did I realise I forgot to blog about it!

Lipsticks

Makeup Revolution Lipsticks

I was never really into lipsticks for quite some time and was only a lip balm kinda girl but now I've broaden my horizons (much to my bank balances dismay) so I treated myself to the Scandalous Lipstick Collection which is a wide range of brights for summer! Some are a bit scary, looking at you Felony and Immoral - but otherwise I think they are great for summer and have amazing pigmentation! It only cost £4 for 5 lipsticks which is brilliant value for money! Buy here!
Makeup Revolution Lipsticks

Dark lips are one of my main go to looks, I love them all year round and have be dying to expand my rather limited 3 piece selection of lipsticks. When scrolling through the website I found The Vamp Collection. I was a very happy bunny!! Unfortunately Rebel With Cause was out of stock and so was the whole collection, as of writing RWC is still out of stock but you can by it as part of the whole collection here, so I only bought the 2. Black Heart takes a bit more layering and finishing off with black eyeshadow patted over to get a black look but is still great quality for £1. 100% Vamp is a reddish purple which is great for darker looks if you don't want to go black. Gothic lipsticks are a love of mine and I can't wait to expand my range!

Salvation Eyeshadow Palette - Girls On Film

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Girls On Film
These palettes look amazing but I could only pick one so after much consideration and help from my mum and boyfriend I picked out the Girls On Film palette. At £6 each you get 18 shades, 12 shimmers and 6 mattes that blend together brilliantly! Currently I'm preferring the darker shades as I find with my skin tone the lighter shades are harder to see but they do work as highlighters. The swatches are in order of the rows, top to bottom.
Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Girls On Film

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Girls On Film

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Girls On Film
Made A Million, Hold Tight and So Bright make a jaw dropping smokey eye, as well as Polaroid Heaven and Lipstick Over The Lens also makes a good pair. I love finishing off the look with SuperCat Eyeliner from Soap & Glory and w7 Show Stopper Mascara. Although as of now it is out of stock but keep an eye out!  Buy here!

Review | Nanshy Blending Brush*

I was sent this brush by Nanshy to try and test and I have fallen in love. To quote Despicable Me "IT'S SO FLUFFY!" It really is. All Nanshy brushes are very affordable, a 7 piece Eye Brush Set being price at around £30, it is very affordable (definitely cheaper than Real Techniques, MAC or Sigma). Nanshy brushes are 100% Vegan and 100% Cruelty Free which is amazing, I love that about it!

Nanshy Blending Brush
This brush was sent to me to try ahead of the release of the Masterful Collection which will be announced very soon, seeing the prototypes they look so beautiful and I would recommend to everyone from beginners to pros. To see the image for yourself, head over to Nanshy and like, tweet or +1 and then you can see the amazing 12 piece set for yourself. Available in black or white, however I'm not sure of the release date yet as it has not been announced, but will via email which you can sign up to receive here.
Nanshy Blending Brush

Apart from being totally animal friendly and vegan friendly, the brush applies really well and I haven't noticed as much fall out as I have done with other brushes around the same price. I have washed the brush and no fall out has occurred and it washed really well. The brushes are anti-bacterial as well so those with spot-prone skin it will help for as it will stop all that nasty germs getting on your face. If I had the full set, I would constantly have them on display as what does a girl want more than beautiful brushes on display?

Wednesday Wishlist #12 | MAC (Lips)

*DISCLAIMER - All photos are from www.maccosmetics.co.uk*
I'm desperate for more MAC lipsticks, I hate myself for loving them as they are unfortunately not cruelty free but I just can't help myself... :( bad Mary-Ann. I do my best to only buy cruelty free products as I really do care for animals and I have started to boycott many brands but I can't resist MAC. I'm sorry animals :(

I have fallen for a few MAC lipsticks and I'm super excited to be able to save up for all the ones I want, I do get a bit intimidated by MAC stores or counters but I hopefully will overcome that fear by buying something in London when I go in August with my boyfriend. This will be the first time I will have bought in-store rather than online, wish me luck!

Rebel - £15.50

MAC Lipstick Rebel

I love dark lips, no matter what shade I have my hair, if you can wear a dark lip I will. I do still love a pink colour and Rebel is sort of an in-between. It is a midtone plum colour which is a dark purple red lightened with pink tones to bring out the plum. It wouldn't be so easy to pull off when I have blue or other contrasting with pink colours but definitely if I go back to blonde or darker colours this would go well with everything. I find Rebel to be more of a 'socially accepted but outgoing shade' compared to some of the others on my Wishlist!
Buy here!

Pure Heroine - £15.50

MAC Lipstick Pure Heroine

When my best friend bought Heroine I was desperate to get my hands on it, however I couldn't quite afford to justify my bank balance to let me. Then 2 weeks later, Pure Heroine is released. A much darker and bolder shade than the original. I don't particularly like Lorde's music or her style but her MAC collection is a yes! However small, but special (best things come in small packages!) It is limited edition, but I hope to find it next month somewhere - fingers crossed!

Prep + Prime Lip - £13
MAC Prep + Prime Lip

I recently received a Prep + Prime sample from a Facebook promo from MAC and have yet to try it as I'm saving it for my holiday in the summer as I want to treat myself but I have heard so many marvellous things about it online! My lipstick stays well on my lips.. sometimes. I've been looking a lip primers but I want one that will actually do it's job and the Prep + Prime range seems to be drawing attention as 'does what it says on the tin' range!

Candy Yum Yum Lipstick - £15.50

MAC Lipstick Candy Yum Yum

Is there a blogger who doesn't own this? Matte brights are a bit of spur of the moment thing with me, I'm looking at you Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick 110, which I get a craze to put on one day and my dad is almost shocked I don't have something similar to Cruella De Ville on my lips (or Morticia Addams - my family are so kind!). Candy Yum Yum is a bright, neon pink, that is a matte shade so will have long lasting staying power. I think with my pink hair it will be a bit much but I'm looking to change that before I hopefully start college in September (for the 3rd time!) to a more helpful colour for makeup looks! I love this colour and really really want it!

There is obviously a lot more that I want but I can't list them all - you'd be here all day! These are the items on the top of my list and I really hope that I can afford some treats to myself next month! What are you after from MAC?

Haul Essence hits the UK!

I have been waiting and waiting for this and every time I go to Holland to see my boyfriend, I whine about how lucky his sister is to be able to use Essence as her everyday makeup all year round! After been not allowed to buy anymore makeup (he isn't controlling that was a joke!), I've just been lusting everytime we walk past a drugstore to go in and buy way more than I should! Now available in Wilkos all over the country, just check online here for your nearest store!

However as I'm on a spending ban till after my holiday when I'm getting my first two tattoos so I need every penny I've got, my mum kindly treated me to a few products as she has been wanting the bright nail polishes of Essence for a long time!
Essence UK Cosmetics

Soft Touch Mousse Makeup in 04 Matt Ivory £3.80

Essence Soft Touch Mousse Makeup in 04 Matt Ivory
I've never used a mousse foundation as when Maybelline released Dream Matte Mousse, the colours were never quite right and my skin was way too dry to use it - silly 15 year old who didn't moisturise! However I swatched this in Wilko's and fell in love with the finish! I'm so glad I am finally Ivory in most products so I can use a lot more on my skin without having to wait for a tan! I am waiting till I can get a Beauty Blender or a MAC All Blending Sponge to apply this as I have decided this is the best way I would like to apply this to my skin.

All-In-One CC Cream in Natural £4.00

Essence All-In-One CC Cream in Natural
CC creams have been drawing my attention as I have very red cheeks! I failed at the first hurdle with BB Creams when I found that Rimmel BB Cream really didn't work for me and looked disastrous! After a little swatch and reading the back that it is meant 'clear & correct' I love this! I'm having an awful hormonal breakout after being very stressed and close to that time of the month (thanks mother nature), and I needed something to cover it! They are slowly going down and after wearing this for the first time I noticed that when worn with the Lasting Perfection Concealer it covers them like a dream! I have been turned to CC Creams!

Mattifying Compact Powder £2.80

Everyone loves powder don't they? I get shine very easily so everytime I try a new brand, I seem to get a powder as well! What I like about this powder is that it is a flip lid rather than a take off lid so it won't accidentally fall off after a lot of opening and closing! I didn't swatch this as it is just a powder!

I <3 Punk Jumbo Eyeliner Pen (below right and top swatch in image below) £2.50

Essence I <3 Punk Eyeliner Pen
If you follow me on Instagram, you'll see I love big eyeliner, it is the main part of my look! This is perfect as it is still a felt tip eyeliner but it is literally jumbo compared to that of SuperCat by Soap and Glory which was in my June Favourites.

Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 01 Black Fever (bottom swatch and above left) £1.50

Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 01 Black Fever
I have been lusting after a new soft eye pencil to use instead of using my Too Face Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner as it is a bit pricey to use everyday on my waterline. I think this may be my new favourite! I haven't given a full test yet but there will be one soon and I will write a proper review on this soon! It is a soft, twist up pencil so that will save on sharpener (perfect for flying!) It is a very precise applicator and I can't wait to try it out!

Lipstick in 07 Natural Beauty £2.30

Essence Lipstick in 07 Natural Beauty
If you are looking for a pinky tone similar to your natural lips (hence the name) this is a good colour for you. I applied this over balm yesterday and it appeared to very glossy (not my favourite kind of look) but applying now it has come up with a much better satin finish which I prefer. In comparison I find it very similar to the Collection Deluxe lipstick in shade 02 Tallulah, but slightly less pigmented, however for the price drop, I'd say go for it!

I feel very lucky to be gifted with these pretties and can't wait till I have my own money to get some more!

Review | Stargazer Semi-Permanent Dye in Magenta

I now have pink hair! I love it! Bright neon pink for the summer, I know it'll be fun to keep going as it'll fade fast with washing like all semi-permanent but for a dye I've found it brilliant! I used Stargazer Dye in Magenta that costs £3.49 currently or the usual price of £4.95. I was inspired by Tessar Goed to do this hair colour when she used it to turn her hair pastel pink and now has brighten hers as well.

My hair needed two dying sessions with TRESemmé Vibrant Naturals Nourish and Replenish Conditioner (£4.99 or at Sainsbury's for 2 for £7 currently) as it contains no silicone so it will not affect how the dye bonds to your hair. I used about 1 teaspoon of dye and stirred in a glass bowl with a tint brush. If you don't have a tint brush, anything plastic will do (remember it may end up stained!) Also remember gloves, Stargazer dyes are very pigmented, they do come with one pair of gloves but if you want to maintain the colour it will need redying - gloves can be found in supermarkets and Poundland. I love how it has come out, perfect to brighten up my summer!

Wednesday Wishlist #11

Today I dyed my hair pink, bright pink, meant to be pastel.... I obviously got carried away with the dye! I am craving new products but I've put myself on a spending ban as I'm going away for 2 weeks in 15 days so I need to keep my money in my pocket!I recently did a bit of Makeup Revolution Haul which I will post about it the upcoming week, and I have to say I really love their stuff! I <3 Makeup is from the same people and is available from the same site. So these are the products I'm craving to get! *All photo rights belong to www.makeuprevolutionstore.com where I got them from*

#SELFIE Slogan Palette - I <3 Makeup

I really like the look of this palette which it's catchy name, shades similar to the Naked palette and good quality for it's price tag that I have noticed from Makeup Revolution so hopefully I <3 Makeup will be just as great! The shades are ones suitable for everyday wear but then can be spiced up for an evening or going out look. It is only £4.99 for 10 shades and a free eye primer, buy here

'Ken Will Want Me' Lip Geek - I <3 Makeup

I love my dark lips but in the summer I just feel like it is a bit too much sometimes depending on what I'm wearing and what colour my hair is. This colour looks like really versatile and the name is brilliant! I've found that with most I <3 Makeup products the names are what draw me in. The packaging is right up my street too, the shape being MAC-like and the shine of the tube makes it feel very glamourous. Buy here!

'Goddess of Love Highlighter' Blushing Heart - I <3 Makeup

I'm very new to highlighters, in fact I only own one. I love my trusted MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter but I need more and want to try more to see if my heart can be changed. The packaging on the Blushing Hearts Collection is adorable and the cardboard is very Benefit-esque. I think for such an affordable brand having the cardboard design makes it look more like what it is meant to instead of trying to dress 21 when you're 70 (no one wants their Gran in a bandeau and booty shorts!) This is a golden toned highlighter with a slight pink tinge but definitely not a pink toned or rose gold, still pretty just wanted to clear up the shade.

'Candy Queen of Hearts Blusher' Blushing Hearts - I <3 Makeup

I picked this blush out of the 3 options because the tones look the best for day to day use. They are light but can be darken up if you want a stronger colour. I have very red cheeks so blush needs to be subtle for me and I find these shades are the most flattering. You can swirl you brush across the whole box or select a colour individually, so 3 blushes for only £4.99 - buy here!
I can't wait to get some I <3 Makeup products and put them to the test so watch this space!

Review | Headline Colors and Nails Inc Nail Polish

This week I had all day to decide on how and what colours to paint my nails. I keep my favourites and new polishes on a cake stand in my cabinet on my shelf but I decided today maybe I should go hunting through my drawers to find some oldies and bring them out! So glad I did!

I got both of these polishes from Glossybox when I first started subscribing so I kinda forgot they exist. I had never heard of Headline Colors till I receive the polish but after using it today I may just get some more if this lasts well! With just two coats I have the perfect nails ready for the week ahead :) Both of these polishes are from the UK which I quite like as it makes it so much easier to buy more of! However the website on the back of the Headline Colors bottle seems to no longer exist so I've had to get an Amazon link, been discontinued I guess :(

I really love how these polishes have turned out though and the effortlessly application ticks all my boxes, can't recommend them more!

June Favourites

Back on the swing of this blogging marlicky, yay! I promise to try my best to keep up with regular updates, please comment below if there is anything you really want to see :)

My birthday is 24th May so I got lots of nice things just for the start of June, there are quite a few but I narrowed it down for you so you aren't reading all day, I've also sectioned it for the first time so I hope you like the new layout.

Eyes

Naked 2 Palette

Naked 2 Palette

I know I'm late to this, but wow it was worth the wait (it was in this wishlist, 7 months ago)!  My boyfriend has known about my blog from day 1 and knows how much I have wanted one of these and has been pestering me to write a full review, which I will do next week, so brought me this, how sweet! I love metallic and dark colours and this is definitely a high end palette for me! I create such lovely smokey eye looks with these in silver/black and coppers/browns. It really is the best! There are lighter shades which I use to highlight and base my eyes with and I really enjoy it!

Soap and Glory SuperCat Eyeliner

This was part of my birthday shopping splurge as well! I used up my Boots points which I had been saving to treat myself to a new felt tip eyeliner pen as I have been struggling with the 2True Eyeliner (buy here) which is a very basic eyeliner in a pot which has a tendencies to wear off after a little while! I find it so easy to do small cat flicks as well as big bold eyeliner with this which makes it so versatile for my looks! It is long lasting and has turned out to be crying proof after a very horrible induction at a job which I have decided to not continue with and to find my true passion before it is too late.

Hair

Clynol Luminous Glow Precious Oil

Clynol Luminous Glow Precious Oil

I know I mentioned this product before in Clynol Luminous Oil Range Review months ago but I have really started to love this now my hair is so damaged! I bleached the bananas out of my hair so it is very fried to say the least! With it looking so dry I want to add some shine and treat my hair at the same time, this has been a true life saver!

Nails

Leighton Denny Crystal File and Diamond VIP Buffer

Thank you mum! These are so lovely and plane proof! A crystal nail file isn't a sharp so you take on the plane with no worries which is so nice to be able to be useful with my time as I wait to go over the water! It doesn't make a horrible noise like I find most emery boards or metal nail files do so I was so happy when mum gave me this! It looks quite large and intimidating but it does the job so much better than a small file I believe.
The buffer makes me nails polish ready and if I need to go bare it looks much fresher and healthier. It is so quick and easy to use and I find polish applies much smoother and lasts longer after using the buffer then when not.

Empties | June

I am so sorry I have been MIA from the blogging world! I've had a lot of stuff going on at home with my dad having lots of hospital appointments and then new kittens to look after and work and college to sort out, sorry! I haven't really used much up this month as I brought so many new products, I really need to use up my stash!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

The old favourite! I don't think I have read 1 bad review about this product, it takes off makeup, leaves skin feeling great, holds back as many spots as it possibly can and keeps dry patches at bay! I get through one of these larger pumps about 1 -2 months which considering it's my only cleanser that I use twice a day I don't really mind to be honest. I find John Lewis is the best place to get it as I get points on my "My John Lewis" member card as well as points on the John Lewis credit card - and who can't resist points!
Buy here!

Liz Earle Gentle Exfoliator

Funny how they both finished up in the same month! I took the last little bit of this with me to Holland last weekend for my boyfriend's birthday - nice to see him after a long and stressful month! This I use once a day in the morning everyday and at night if I haven't worn makeup during the day or worn a lot of makeup - I am currently using Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Scrub to give a bit of more of an exfoliate to remove any residue in my pores with a bit more strength!
Buy here!

Oral B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste

I wouldn't have included this if it wasn't worth raving about. I struggle with staining on my teeth even when I was I little and it turns out it is genetic teeth issue, my mum and most of my mum's side of the family have it even though they've never smoked, brush their teeth twice a day and eat healthy (my great aunt used to be a nutritionist and was the healthiest person I know!) But this has saved me, within a couple of weeks of starting to use it, it really does the job! Unfortunately though if I forget to brush my teeth (I cleanse before showering but if I still have a drink on the go and then plan to brush my teeth when I'm done.. yeah doesn't always happen!) I start to notice notable discolouring. It is quite expensive for a toothpaste, but not ridiculous however Superdrug or supermarkets tend to have it on offer at least once a month so I pick up it then to save those pennies!
