Wednesday Wishlist #03

So it's Wednesday which means more wishing!!

1) Calvin Klein Downtown Eau de Parfum - The Perfume Shop £22.50

Calvin Klein Downtown Eau de Parfum
In the summer I went to London for a little shopping trip with mum and whilst walking round Selfridges I found this.

I can't remember the scent now, but I know I liked it and have wanted it ever since.

It is currently reduced at The Perfume Shop, compared to Superdrug where it is £45 for 50ml!

2) Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Liner - Boots £2.99

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Liner
After my Superdrug haul of Scandal Eyes products I am craving to get this one! I use a lot of eyeliner as it is just one of my favourite looks so I would really like to try this one! I like kohl liners because they are soft but then usable as long as you don't loose the lid! I would like this in black because I'm a bit shy of using a kohl liner in a different colour!

I use my Too Faced kohl a lot of the time but at £15 a pencil, it will get very costly to use this except for special occasions.

As said I am a big kohl liner fan, so if you have any suggestion for a kohl liner, leave a comment below!

3) Niah Metallic Detail Faux Leather Handbag - Missguided £24.99

Missguided Niah Metallic Detail Faux Leather Handbag
I use my backpack from Disturbia (no longer available)  for basically everything but sometimes you need to look a bit smarter and my other bag I use has almost run out of life so this would be the perfect replacement!

It's black faux leather which I love because I like a punk/grunge look whilst still being feminine with the metallic detailing.

I like the shape and it looks like it could hold enough for any given day and I like that there is two sets of handles so it can be a handbag or over the shoulder which helps for travelling around!

That's this weeks! Hopefully the job interview I have on Friday will work out so I can start to afford things again!

Glossybox January 2014

First Glossybox of the new year!!

I had an email from Glossybox saying that there had been a makeover and they were absolutely correct :) The boxes used to be a matte light pink with the Glossybox symbol on the top - now they are actually Glossyboxes! They are the same shade of pink just a glossy version and now has the text 'Glossybox' written across the front. I quite like the change as they still look adorable!
Glossybox

Onto the products!

1) Vaseline Essential Moisture Lotion - Boots £4.99 for 400ml

I don't know one person who doesn't use or hasn't used something from the Vaseline range in their life, but I've never used one of their moisturisers before.

I have only tried this on my hands and it soaks it really fast for a lotion which is nice because everyone hates not being able to put clothes on or thinking that you'll stick to everything!

2) Anatomicals Puffy The Eye Bag Slayer Wake-Up Under Eye Patches - Asos £6.00 for 3 pack

Anatomicals Puffy The Eye Bag Slayer Wake-Up Under Eye Patches
I have been wanted to try more of the Anatomicals range since I received the 'Spray Misty For Me Facial Spritz' in one of the summer boxes which was amazing for the warm weather!

I am so tired at the moment and you can really tell it on my eyes so I can't wait to use these next time I fancy a little pamper session.

3) The Vintage Cosmetic Company Floral Slanted Tweezers - TheVintageCosmeticCompany.com £8.00

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Floral Slanted Tweezers BackWhat can I say about tweezers? We all know what they do and how they work but WOW these are amazing! I always end missing smaller eyebrow hairs when neatening mine up and these are perfect for even the tiniest of hairs!

The pretty floral design adds a nice touch to a usual not that exciting tool and I will be keeping it in the case with the cap until I loose them because I like everything neat and tidy when it comes to tools!

4) Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream - OneStopBeauty.co.uk £13.50 for 33g

Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream

I have to be careful with moisturisers as my skin can flare up and break out at anything so these I have passed on to my mum as I know she would like them more than I would!

5) balance Me Super Toning Body Wash - Balanceme.co.uk £10.25 for 250ml

Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash
I love balance Me products and I have a feeling I will love this also!

"Packed full of skin-boosting, smoothing and toning juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavendar essential oils, enjoy your daily dose of gently foaming freshness"

You can certainly smell the oils of the flowers, so if you don't like strong scents then this is a body wash for you!

I am hoping that it does smooth and tone but I think it will do more for my nose and head to help me breath that for my skin!

For the first Glossybox of the year it is rather good I think!

Drugstore Haul!! 25/01/14

On Saturday I went into Superdrug with mum and she treated me to a few things that I am very grateful for! I like Superdrug because unlike Boots they offer 10% student discount which can save a quite nice amount of money over time!

With 3 for 2 on all Rimmel London products, the first stand in my local branch, I hunted around and got a few things I have wanted for a while now!

1) Rimmel London 60 Seconds Nail Polish - #210 Ethereal - £3.69

This was the free product in the 3 for 2 deal that was on! I chose this colour as this season almost white shades are on trend however with my skin tone unless the nail polish is very pigmented and is a strong paint, it just looks silly. But slightly more pastel tones I can get away with. This colour makes me feel like I have fairy or princess nails as it is such a pale pastel pink but with a slight sheen to it. I put it on the night after I bought it because I just love it!

2) Rimmel London ScandalEYES Eyeshadow Paint - #002 Slate Gray - £4.99

I have seen these next two items on different bloggers and YouTube videos hauls recently and I've been wanting to try for a while! I usually just wear black eyeshadow and eyeliner but now I want to try out more looks now I'm wanting to seem more adult than wearing full black. I've been experimenting with the Barry M Smokin Hot Palette and a few Avon ones I have had laying around but now I really want to broaden my horizons!

I chose Slate Gray because I wanted something still dark but with a slight shimmer to it which this does!

3) Rimmel London ScandalEYES Eyeshadow Stick - #006 Paranoid Purple - £4.49

This product isn't a total 'new in my life' product as I actually have it in Blackmail #008 but as I just said I want to try new colours. I like the Eyeshadow Stick as it so easy to use with no fallout however it can crease and smudge if you don't leave it long enough to set which is annoying! I haven't invested in a eye primer yet but I think I will soon to see if these can be improved - if you have any suggestion for an eye primer please leave a comment below!

Next was the Collection Counter!

4) Collection Deluxe Lipstick - #02 Talullah - £2.99 (Usual price £3.99)

I have just found Collection Deluxe Lipsticks and this is the second one I have brought since last week.. oops!! But they have such a nice texture and look lovely on the lips and the colours are amazing. I can't wait to wear this out as it is a nice bright salmon pink tone.

The other shade I have is #04 Speakeasy which is a brighter pink. See here :)

5) Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer - #2 Natural - £4.99

This is a cheeky repurchase! I use this under my eyes and on bright red blemishes before using Collection Lasting Perfection #2 Light over the blemishes.

It helps to cover up these two as it is an illuminating concealer so brings brightness to the dull areas and a more natural colour as it is slightly lighter than the Lasting Perfection which I prefer under my eyes as they are lighter on my skin.

I recommend this to everyone and I don't know why it isn't as praised as the Lasting Perfection Concealer!!

Buy here!

6) Maybelline New York Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser - £7.99

This is one of the most talked about products of 2013/14. If you haven't tried it and you say you're a beauty blogger than it's almost a 'shame of you' situation with this hard competitive world!

I got it in the 'Buy 1 Get The Second 1/2 Price' deal on all Maybelline at Superdrug at the moment and mum got herself a second baby lips after I got her Pink Punch last week, she got Peach Kiss.

This is quite silicone feel to it but I'm excited to try as I haven't tried a primer like before, so I can't wait and will review it in a couple of weeks.

7) MUA Matte Lipstick - Peachy Keen - £1

This was a bargain buy! I'm in love with lipsticks at the moment, especially matte lipsticks as I prefer the look on my lips to lots of shine, however I am slowly being converted to love everything!

MUA lipsticks seem to be a cheap but good purchase from what I have read online but I'm not so sure yet but I'll wear it a few times to tell and will definitely review for those who want to read!

At £1 even if they are awful it's not too bad if it is a waste of money. I would have brought more but at £1, most of the shades had run out of stock unfortunately!

So that was my haul, hope you like it!

This week's test - The Body Shop Foundation Lip Butter

This week I was sat at my desk and being too lazy to move I reached for the nearest draw that contained lip balm and pulled one out. It happened to be an old one I've had for a while now but not used in ages (although it is still available!) since finding the Born Lippy Stick Balms and EOS spheres.
The Body Shop Foundation Lip Butter Front

It is Dragonfruit flavour which is kind of hard to describe but to me it tastes like sweets (candy if you're American). It is a white butter but unless you go OTT it blends into your lip to go clear. As it is a lip butter though you do end up with a lot on your finger you don't use if you aren't careful with how much pressure you put in your finger!
The Body Shop Foundation Lip Butter Inside

It does moisturise greatly but does leave quite a thick coating on your lips so probably not the best to  wear under a lipstick as it will help not prevent your lipstick wearing off very fast.

My hair story!

My hair was pretty much the same for all my life except a few mini disasters! But recently over the last 5 months it has changed quite a bit!!

When I was younger my hair was uncontrollable! It was easiest to keep it all one length and in a ponytail because I was always running around with boys in trees or at dance (I know tomboy that liked to dance!)

It was a dark blonde most of the year and was hard to control before I was old enough for hair straighteners!

This photo was on one of it's better days as it was school photo day, but as you can see its thick and frizzy even after blow drying, not fun :(

I had it cut all one length till I was in year 8 (12/13 years old) which then I thought it would be a good idea to have a fringe cut, however my hairdresser was really not the best hair dresser in the world and I ended up with two short curtain style bangs with just a short bit either side of my face but with the front part of my hair so I could never wear my hair natural with no clips or grips again unless I wanted to look like a complete melon! So here came the next 3 and half years of wearing a clip or an Alice band to hold it all back!

I know I look a bit erm "special" in this photo but it was the best one I could find that showed the mane at its best! It never held a blow dry for more than 10 minutes and started to go back to its wavy self. My hair is naturally very curly as you'll see when I eventually gained the confidence to go out with it natural this summer!

Nothing happened till July 2013 when then the purple dip dye happened...

Okay so the first attempt didn't go so well.. it was okay but I redid it regularly because I preferred the more intense deeper colours that my dye could give me. By the end of the dip dye stage it went over half my hair and was very purple indeed!

Then I eventually got mum to agree to me dying it all purple which yes was a good move until the dye turned into a brown after about 2 weeks worth of washing which is disappointing
as I didn't wash my hair daily (Batiste was (is!) my best friend!) so it was a shame but I loved it at the time! I loved it when 6 weeks later I used a different dye so I got a more brighter colour that definitely lasted till the root touch up 8 weeks later!
I was getting bored of this colour though and decided it was time to go even darker as fortunately my eyebrows are dark compared to my natural hair colour so I could go darker without worrying about light eyebrows! So then I used a very deep purple black to get it to an almost black except under a bright light where you could see the hints of purple in it.

As you can see from the photos my hair is still very long and all one length! I was proud of my hair as I could do a lot with it and didn't have to worry about a fringe (bangs) or any short parts sticking up but that all changed. In December I took the move to have it all cut and shaped and layered because I wanted a hair style that felt more me now I have stopped dance (different story) so this was it after the cut...  (right)

I then again dyed it dark (left), this time the colour lasted a long time and I even had it curly! See part 2 next week to see what I will be doing to my hair in the upcoming months!!

Wednesday Wishlist #02

Here is it! Number two! Oh how I wish I had some money... :(

1) Topshop - Lips - Innocent £8

Topshop Lipstick InnocentTopshop makeup is well known as one of the highstreet's best! I currently only have a few nail polishes, a lipstick and a lip bullet.

I recently got a light pink from Collection and have decided I would love another and this colour is just perfect!

I like the metal casing on Topshop lipsticks as I am pretty much a disaster zone and seem to be able to crack any plastic! I have got through about 3 phone cases in the last 4 months haha!

As England is not exactly the brightest place in the world right now, my usual dark wine reds and deep colours don't work so well with my pale skin so the pinks really help brighten up my face.

2) Urban Decay - Naked 2 Palette approx £25

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I know Naked 3 has recently been released but I personally prefer Naked 2 to spend my money on!

It is mainly available on eBay with brand new palettes averaging at £25. I really like the shades in 2 as they are dark and that's what I prefer my eye makeup to be.

I've yet to try any Urban Decay makeup but I really hope I can soon!!

3) Boots - Balmi Lip Balm - Raspberry £4.99

Balmi Lip Balms
I am a lip balm hoarder. Literally 8/10 time I go shopping I will buy a lip balm.

I have seen around about Balmi, and since getting myself an EOS sphere, I find it hard to use anything else but then I want to keep it as a treat!

It's a dilemma but lip balms are my little treat to myself so maybe this will be the one that I will actually get first once I have some money!!

Review| Cath Kidston Hand Cream

I have a lot of products in my room that I have never tried. They are normally unexpected gifts, free samples or forgotten purchases that I've brought and put away and forgotten about - we've all done it, don't judge me!

So every Monday I'm going to find one of these products, test it for a week and then give a review on the Sunday telling you the product I'm going to try next from the collection of unloved products I have.

This week it is Cath Kidston Rose Hand Cream. I was brought this as part of a present a couple of years ago from my Gran and I never got round to using it as I kept buying new things for myself and pushed it to the back of the cupboard. I recently got some new storage and that meant an organise of all my stuff was needed and I found this!

The packaging has now changed but the product and the scent is still the same. Sorry the photo is quite dark so there is a flash glare - winter lighting is quite horrendous!
Cath Kidston Hand Cream
The scent isn't that strong which I like in a hand cream because sometimes I find it too overbearing compared to perfumes. I found it quite moisturising although I've had to keep applying and applying it a lot to get the moisturised feeling but it doesn't give that instant 'WOW' feeling that I'm looking for in a hand cream or at least after 3/4 days of use.

It's kept my hands bearable but it hasn't done the greatest of jobs.. they aren't dry but they aren't super soft either which is disappointing in some ways.

I wouldn't repurchase this again but I will continue to use up the tube.

L'Occitane Collection

This is a brand I found via my mum.. who found it on a shopping channel.. but needless to say for skincare it is a staple in my house!

L'Occitane is a French brand that came into the UK market in the 90s and now has 70 boutiques and is in most department stores.
My collection is not that big but the few bits I have I would like to share with you

Ultra Rich Body Cream in Apricot Flower

L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream

L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream

The smell is perfect and it's a shame it was a limited edition but the original smells great too.

It is 25% Shea Butter so that is wonderful. The original is available to buy hereIt is a shame that this scent isn't available all the time as it does smell so fresh which is a great pick me up during the winter months! I got this last summer when it was a limited edition range and fell in love with it. The consistency is creamy and thick but then spreads smoothly and goes a long way. It's great for post shower or just a little top up during the day. I like this on my feet and elbows and other dry spots as it has a thicker consistency than a lotion due it being ultra rich.

Precious Cream

L'Occitane Precious Cream

I received a sample of this in Glossy Box and have barely used it because it is such an intense moisturiser for my skin I leave it for the days where my skin just cries out for moisture. Due to it being winter and my skin being all bleurgh at the moment I've started using this a bit more this week under my eyes and around my nose where my skin gets the driest.

It works like a dream and I never need it more than a week at a time - if I was to have all the money in the world I would definitely use it more as it is very costly! Buy the full size here.

3) Hand Cream Collection

L'Occitane Hand Creams
  • Cherry Princess :
  • Hibiscus Flower

I have 4 hand creams from L'Occitane, well 3 as two are the same scent, and I love them. Mine are travel size at 30ml but I think for a hand cream sometimes these are easier so they can come with you when you go places!
There are:
I haven't really used the Cherry Princess one yet so it maybe on one on my weekly tests (see more on Sunday about that!)

Unfortunately I've gone to find the links for the other two I have and they are no longer sold by L'Occitane. It's the only problem I have with L'Occitane is that they have lots of limited edition ranges that don't last longer than a couple of weeks which is a shame if you want to tell others about it!

So that's my current collection! I hope this inspires you to go and buy some L'Occitane or even just visit the store as they have many free samples if you talk nicely the sales assistants then they may offer you some if you don't have enough money for the full size products!

Wednesday Wishlist #01

I thought I would join this little tag!

Due to me being unfortunately unemployed and waiting to hear back from about 1 million job applications I don't have the money to buy what I wish, but hey I can still wish!

1) American Apparel - Unisex Salt and Pepper Zip Hoodie - Peppered Salt £44

American Apparel Hoody

I have always wanted an American Apparel Hoodie since I first found American Apparel existed. The only problem is the price unfortunately is out of my range at the moment :(

I like the new (I say new, it's not the original) salt and pepper style of hoodie as it gives the hoodie more depth and looks nicer in my opinion than a solid colour hoodie.

So this is top of my wishlist at the moment so I can get it for the new season!

2) Wirewrap (Etsy store) - Heart Cartilage Earring Wire - 16 Gauge, 12mm £14.98

Heart Cartilage Earring

I got my cartilage pierced in late 2013 and it's healed enough that I can now change the jewellery in it which is nice!

Funnily enough my boyfriend found this off a link on tumblr and thought I may like - he knows me so well!

It is quite pricy but for an sterling silver earring that isn't in a mass production store then I don't mind paying a little bit more!

Buy here!

3) Monu - Illuminating Skin Primer SPF 15 - £24.95

Monu Illuminating Skin Primer
After receiving a sample of this in my October Glossy Box, I fell in love, due to it's tiny sample size though I have limited myself to special occassions.

But now I have used almost all of it and can't wait till I have enough money to get the full size bottle!

It's lightweight, adds a shimmer to your face and holds your make-up in place for hours!!

So there are my three things for this week!

Primark Haul January!

Primark Haul

Uh oh... but only one bag half full so that's good in some way! I've put the sizes on so you can see the sizes a bit better.

Dungarees £12 - Size 12

Primark Blue Denim Short Dungarees

I saw these as I went looking for an item in the window display as I walked into the shop and I just couldn't resist. It isn't really the right time of year for dungarees but I wanted to buy a pair before finding some would be a mission!

They are a light blue denim with some randomly lighter patches that were different on every pair.

There is a pouch on the chest which will be good for days when I don't want a bag but still want to take my phone out with me as I'm a devil for loosing things so being able to feel it on my chest and when it isn't there I know I need to find it fast!

Primark Blue Denim Short Dungarees

The catches are conventional dungaree catches with adjustable straps which is good because being 5' 10" which is quite tall for UK clothes I can make them long enough!

The back pockets are also real - so that's handy! And there are belt loops for if you want to add an accessory to your outfit or need to pull it in at the waist/hips a bit.

Perfect to wear with a crop top or bandeau with Converse, Vans, Doc Martens, ballet flats - anything!

Nautical Themed Print T-shirt £5  - Size 10

Sailor Shirt

I brought this top to wear a pyjama top as I never find pyjama tops that stick to the shape they are meant to and I like the feel.

However if I had a change of heart and want to wear it out then I'd team it up with skinny jeans - either a light grey or black or there might be a bit of a blue overload.

It would look pretty cute in summer with turned up skinny jeans and flats!

Care Bears T-shirt £6  - Size 10

Care Bears Shirt

This top was another I bought to wear as a pyjama top as it really isn't my style to wear outside.

There isn't much I can really say about it as I know now that I won't be wearing it out but if you did, team it up with something dark on the bottom otherwise you might be a colour explosion!

Laser Cut Print Imitation Leather Skirt £5 (Sale item reduced from £10)  - Size 12

Leather Skirt
This skirt was one of my favourite purchases from this little trip! It was reduced which always an advantage and I've been looking for an imitation leather skirt for a little while now. The skirt has small tiny cut out flowers with an cream lining to stop your legs peeking through!                             You can team this skirt up with almost anything you want to really! Crop tops, t-shirts tucked in, vest tops, anything really! You can add a thin belt if you want to have a more sophisticated look.

Unicorn Jumper/Sweater £8 - Size 10

Unicorn Jumper
This is my favourite purchase of the trip! It is a cute and simple lightweight unicorn jumper/sweater. The coloured part on the front has a faux suede/fuzzy feeling which is quite nice except all you want to do is stroke the front of your body the whole time wearing it haha!!

I think I'll be moving into this jumper in the upcoming future!

Holland!!

So I went to Holland for a week! My boyfriend lives in Holland so I went out to see him for the week and spend some quality time together after being 5 months apart. It was fun seeing the sights and spending time with him and his family but I couldn't resist shopping!

Amsterdam in December

I don't know the quality of any Dutch brands but I brought the products that I liked the look and feel off! Not many, but I couldn't afford everything I wanted sadly :(

When we went to Amsterdam, we went with one of his friends which luckily meant I could go into the more girly shops and leave him outside with his friend rather than have him follow me like a lost puppy or just get in the way haha. First up was The Body Shop, everything was on sale which was nice but I didn't have much room in my suitcase so I had to stay small. Of course I went for my biggest weakness... lip balm.

Born Lippy Stick Lip Balm in Pomegranate is what I went for. The smell is delicious and it tastes great too. Due to it being a red colour (which doesn't show up as bright red on your lips don't panic!) it is nice to put over my lipstick - as I wear quite dark colours -  to give it a shiny look without the stickiness of gloss and without changing the colour of my lips

Born Lippy Stick Balm

This is my collection of Born Lippy Stick Balms, left to right, Pomegranate (hmmm), Strawberry (lol) and Pink Berry (oooh). They all taste amazing and do wonders for your lips as well as not being over priced.

Secondly I went into a store called Hema Beauty, I do not know the quality of this store or the product as I have yet to use it! I did swatches of all the products I liked the look of as they were so cheap I wanted to check how they worked on my skin. In the end I just went for the eyeliner in 21 (jet black). I will try it as soon as possible and post a photo on my Instagram so you can all see it!

HEMA eyeliner

So after spending all week in Holland we went on one last trip to town, we stopped in a drug store called DA. I had been loving the colour of his sister's nail polish all week so we popped into get it. It is Rimmel London 60 Seconds '320 Rapid Ruby', in the photo below I wore it with 17 Lasting Fix 'Smoke Signal' - which are both available at Boots.

Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish 17 Nail Polish

And the finally product was DA Foundation Long Lasting in 302. I have tried this and it gives a nice light coverage which is good for days where you don't need a face full or makeup but would like a bit more than powder and concealer! It's a liquid like foundation but I could still put my desired amount onto my hand then my brush rather than having to pour it onto the brush as I always end up pouring it on the floor by accident!
DA Foundation

So it was a great week in Holland and I can't wait to go back in April, might even bring back some more goodies!
